Thanks to our fabulous MBH volunteers

Volunteers help make the world go round, and that’s definitely the case at Mildura Base Hospital.

Hospital’s valued volunteers recently enjoyed a special “thank you” luncheon in recognition of the important and essential work volunteers do.
Hosted by the executive and Community Advisory Board, the lunch was a chance to thank those who volunteer their time.
“Each year, our wonderful dedicated  band of volunteers devote hundreds of hours, to making  a big difference to our patients experience while in hospital,” chief executive officer Julia Morgan said.
“Some of our volunteers have been dedicating their time to help out at the hospital for more than 10 years now, so we think it’s really important they are all recognised and thanked for their efforts.”
Mildura Base Hospital volunteers carry out a range of duties including taking turns to share the shifts at the hospital’s help desk, which is often visitors’ first port of call when entering the hospital; taking the newspaper and lolly trolley around the hospital to patients; fixing flowers in wards; and helping out by printing pamphlets and organising information packages in our midwifery unit patients.
Ms Morgan said the hospital volunteer group is constantly expanding and almost every department in the hospital benefits from the contribution they make.
“Our volunteers always say they get as much back as they give from their roles, but a little bit of thanks goes a long way.  Their support and commitment is invaluable and we want them to know that we, our patients and the community recognise their enormous contribution,” she said.
