Rising stars turn out in force for NAIDOC Three on Three

More than 200 up-and-coming basketballers hit the courts during the annual Three on Three day at Mildura during NAIDOC Week celebrations.

The Basketball Three on Three has been running as part of NAIDOC  for the past three years. 

Numbers have increased each year over that time -- from 130 last year to around 200 youngsters aged between three and 20.

Mildura Heat basketballers Crystal Wittington, Calvin Henry and Terrill Bell were a big hit with the kids, leading skills sessions and reinforcing the importance of sport for mental and physical health.

The day involved drill and skill sessions, a Three on Three Tournament and finished with Robinvale versus Mildura game between senior players.

The day has been supported by the Indigenous Family Violence Regional Action Group, DHS, Mallee District Aboriginal Services, Healthy for Life consortium, Mildura Koori Court, Mildura Basketball Stadium, Mildura Lions Club, Lower Murray Water, Tip Top Bakery and Mildura Fruit Company.
