Plays in Mallee focus on aged care

Health plays that promote kindness and communication as the key to aged care will be showing in Ouyen and Sea Lake during March.

Mallee Track Health and Community Service (MTHCS) is proudly presenting the plays by the acclaimed Hush Project at no cost to the community.
MTHCS Chief Executive Officer Lois O’Callaghan said there would be two different performances – one in Ouyen and one in Sea Lake.
“Hush health plays are renowned in the health and aged care sectors around Australia for tackling the biggest issues in the culture of health care today.
“Using drama to educate is a popular and successful way to sensitively portray aged care scenarios and provoke thought about the experiences of older people and the staff and families who care for them,” she added.
Written by award-winning playwright Alan Hopgood AM, the plays use real stories to highlight the challenges faced by patients, families and staff in health care.
Ms O’Callaghan said the plays had been well received around the nation by staff, carers and families who said the plays used humour and current learnings in aged care such as an emphasis on kindness.
The play “Do you know me?” will be performed on Tuesday March 26th, from 6pm, in the PAG Room (George Morrish Centre), Ouyen.
“What matters?” will be presented in Sea Lake on Wednesday March 27th, from 6pm, at the MTHCS Sea Lake Service Centre multipurpose room.
Both plays are free and light refreshments will be served.
