New General Manager for MDAS Family and Community Services

The administrator of a Northern Territory aged care service has been appointed to a key leadership role within the Mallee District Aboriginal Services.
Cassie Atchison will take up the position of General Manager, Family and Community MDAS on December 10.

MDAS Chief Executive Officer Rudolph Kirby said he was pleased to have been able to recruit a manager with strong experience in the health, family and community services sector.

“We interviewed a really impressive field of applicants that were drawn from across Australia,” Mr Kirby said.

“It’s a reflection of the growing status of MDAS within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Organisations across Australia that we are able to attract excellent quality candidates to senior positions.”

For Ms Atchison, her appointment is a welcome opportunity to return home to Victoria after working in remote Australia.  Ms Atchison grew up in south west Victoria and started her career in Residential Aged Care, working in that sector for seven years.

She then applied her skills to work in the alcohol and other drugs and mental health field, and moved to the Northern Territory as the Aged, Disability and Youth Services Manager for a local Aboriginal Corporation.

Ms Atchison is currently the director of care at the Pulkapulkka Kari Flexible Aged Care Service in Tennant Creek and is looking forward to joining the team at MDAS.
