New CEO announced for Mildura Base Hospital

Mildura Base Hospital’s new Chief Executive Officer Julia Morgan says she brings a strong community and collaborative focus to the hospital’s top job.

Ms Morgan has been acting in the role since the departure of the long-serving CEO Dane Huxley earlier this year and her appointment to the position was recently announced.
The former Director of Corporate Services at MBH since 2010, Ms Morgan previously held senior management roles at The Avenue Private Hospital and Flinders University in Adelaide.  She is a member of the Australian College of Health Service Management and is currently completing a Masters of Business Administration at La Trobe University.
Ms Morgan said she would continue the work started by Mr Huxley on expanding inpatient services to meet the growing needs of the community.
“I’m continuing that work but our executive team is also very focussed on finding new ways to meet the specific health needs of our region,” she said.
“One saying that I live by is; ‘It is not about wanting to be the best, it’s about striving, every day, to be better than you were yesterday’.
“I think in our case that is best achieved when we take a holistic view to find new ways to achieve outcomes and we bring more people on-board with our shared community goals.”
Ms Morgan said her vision was to enhance community connection to the hospital and take a collaborative approach to regional health service delivery.
“I am already working closely with our Community Advisory Board to look at opportunities for advancing volunteer and fund raising activity,” Ms Morgan said.
“Our executive team is also focused on enhancing connections with community health providers and working in a collaborative way towards the best outcomes for Mildura,” she said.
Ms Morgan said she was tremendously proud of the hospital, its staff and the high quality of services it provides.
“However, I am the first to admit that no hospital is perfect and therefore continuous improvement will be at the absolute core of everything we do at all levels of the organisation,” she said.
“We are ingraining that culture throughout the hospital and backing it up by improving quality transparency through a program of independent service reviews.
“I am looking forward to working with many groups and individuals with the aim of achieving the best possible outcomes for our community.”
