New board appointments at Mallee Track

FIVE new appointments have been made to the Board of the Mallee Track Health and Community Service (MTHCS), as the organisation continues to support local communities through the COVID-19 pandemic.

New appointments include Mary Rydberg and Darren Law, who both joined the Board in November 2019, followed by Phillip Down, Steven Fumberger, and Kathryn Munro who joined the Board in July 2020.
The new appointees join Mark Wilson (Chair) and Joy Lynch (Senior Vice Chair) at the helm of the MTHCS, and replace Terry Elliott, Meredith Rowney and Jenna Yetman.
“Our service continues to successfully navigate some significant challenges, not least of which is the COVID-19 global pandemic, but I’m pleased to say we do so with the highest of commitment to our local communities,” MTHCS Board Chair Mark Wilson said.
“The skills and knowledge of all Board members will help us to continue to build a cohesive and relevant organisation that provides important services for all Mallee Track communities.”
Mary Rydberg has over 25 years of management experience with a number of government, community and health organisations. Most recently, Mary was appointed incoming chair of the Mildura Base Public Hospital board.
Darren Law is a paramedic with Ambulance Victoria in Ouyen and brings extensive clinical knowledge and experience to the Board.
Speed primary producer Philip Down brings to the Board significant local knowledge and community networks.
Steven Fumberger is currently transitioning into retirement from Ambulance Victoria and is also a Board member of Sunraysia Community Health Services (SCHS).
Kathryn Munro has more than 20 years’ experience in finance and auditing, along with business and risk management, and has connections in both Mildura and Sea Lake.
Mr Wilson thanked outgoing Board members Terry Elliott, Meredith Rowney and Jenna Yetman, noting each had made valuable contributions to MTHCS.
Terry was originally appointed in 2010 and served as Board Chair from 2015-2018, and as a member of the Board Executive for six years.
Meredith joined the MTHCS Board in 2017 and was a member of the Board’s Quality, Safety and Risk Committee.
Jenna was appointed in 2018 and was a member of the Finance and Audit Committee before resigning in May 2020.
“When community members such as Terry, Meredith and Jenna step up and get involved in an organisation such as MTHCS, it really shows just how important this service is to people in Mallee Track communities,” Mr Wilson said.
“The COVID-19 response has emphasised that health services have to navigate new challenges, as well as some traditional issues. Skilled, committed Board members guide that process and help our staff and community members to continue to be resilient.”
The new MTHCS Board met for the first time on 28 July 2020.
