MTHCS looks forward with CEO reappointment

The board of Mallee Track Health and Community Service says it’s looking forward with confidence after reappointing the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer Lois O’Callaghan for a second term.

MTHCS Chair Mark Wilson said the board was pleased to endorse Ms O’Callaghan to lead the organisation for a further four years.
“Lois’s energy and passion for our Mallee communities and for our Mallee Track is evident in every aspect of her work,” Mr Wilson said.
“In her first term, Lois’s leadership has allowed MTHCS to tick off on some important and fundamental achievements, including the organisation’s five-year strategic plan,” he said.
“This is a road map for the future of our health service and it’s a credit to Lois that the plan has all of our communities invested in its vision and mission to achieve person-centred outcomes.”
Ms O’Callaghan said she welcomed the opportunity to continue implementing the key goals outlined in the MTHCS Strategic Plan.
“As a small, remote health service, we are navigating our way through a changing landscape across the health sector,” she said.
“I’m fortunate to have a committed and capable board and the input of a strong executive team as we’ve worked our way through a complex strategic planning process.
“It now allows us to focus on delivering high quality outcomes in all our service areas, including childcare, urgent care, aged residential care and our medical clinics.”
Mr Wilson said the board was continuing to invest in Ms O’Callagahan’s professional development as a CEO.
“This investment is bringing rewards right through the health service, as Lois continues to build her skills in all areas of executive level management.
“It’s a great example of the ‘grow our own’ philosophy we’re adopting across the organisation, with the aim of building a robust and resilient workforce that’s invested in the health and wellbeing of our communities.”
Ms O’Callaghan’s reappointment was informed by a full performance review by an external consultant.  The review was overseen by a Board-endorsed panel and had input from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.
“Our endorsement of Lois allows us to look forward to the future of our health service with confidence and optimism,” Mr Wilson said.
