MDAS gets a flying start to Relay for Life

Mallee District Aboriginal Services is again taking the lead on Mildura’s favorite community fundraiser, Relay for Life, by signing on as a major corporate sponsor for the third year running.

And the MDAS Corporate Team is also getting a flying start on amassing a big funds tally this year, with a fundraising movie night at Cinema Deakin next week (February 9).
The movie is the opening night of “50 Shades Darker”, the much-hyped sequel to the box office smash “50 Shades of Grey”.
Team organiser Shanice Kuchel said she hoped the “girls’ night out” theme coinciding with the first opportunity to see “50 Shades Darker” would appeal to groups of friends wanting to see the movie.
“We know there will be plenty of women who are planning to see the movie after the hype and success of ’50 Shades of Grey’ a couple of years ago,” Shanice said.
“We just hope they will take the opportunity to come along on the very first night and help us to get a good start with raising funds for a great cause,” she said.
Tickets to the night are $30 and include the movie ticket (6.30 screening) as well as nibbles, a drink on arrival and raffles at Mildura’s Rendezvous Restaurant after the movie.  Tickets are available by contacting Shanice Kuchel or Jade Klaebe at MDAS on 5018 4100.
MDAS is one of 14 teams entered so far for Relay for Life on April 22.  This year, the Relay for Life Mildura goal is to raise $130,000 for the Cancer Council’s research, prevention, information and support services.
