MBH CEO takes up new role

Mildura Base Hospital Chief Executive Officer Julia Morgan has announced her departure from the hospital after accepting a CEO role with Ramsay Health Care in Melbourne.

Ms Morgan, who has been in the CEO role over the last four years, said her departure was with mixed emotions.
“I am incredibly proud of our hospital and all that we have achieved for the Mildura community and the progress and developments we have made, especially over the last 5 years,” Ms Morgan said.
“As a management team we have worked hard to ensure that services continue to grow to meet the needs of our community and the outcome of that has been a long list of improvements and expansions across the organisation,” she said.
“Major hospital upgrades including expansion of the emergency, intensive care and mental health units, doubling the size of our chemotherapy services, a new Aboriginal Health Unit and the pioneering of a critical care telehealth service using state of the art technology in partnership with Intensivist Specialists at The Alfred.
The hospital also established the 10-bed Prevention and Recovery Centre (PARC), was the lead agency for the implementation of headspace, developed a 30+ apartment complex for doctors’ accommodation and secured funding for a new 8-bed dedicated paediatric ward. All of which would not have happened without the hard work of so many people.
Ms Morgan said she is extremely proud and thankful for the amazing work provided by the hospital’s skilled and passionate staff as well as the vision and dedication of the MBH Executive team.
“I am also grateful for the dedication of our Community Advisory Board members who have volunteered their time to provide a conduit between the community and the hospital, providing  thorough review and feedback, always in the best interests of patients and the community at large,” she said.
“It is through the efforts of all of these individuals and groups that we have put the hospital in the best position to meet the growing future needs of this community.”
Ms Morgan said the decision to transition the hospital back to public management had forced her to consider her own future beyond September 2020.
“I am saddened to be leaving the hospital under these circumstances,” she said.
“But I am excited at the opportunity to continue working with Ramsay Health Care. I enjoy working with an organisation that is so thoroughly professional and passionate and committed to the people in its care.”
Ramsay Health Operations Manager Greg Hall thanked Ms Morgan and the MBH Executive Team for their leadership.
“I thank Julia for her commitment to Mildura Base Hospital and the community over many years in her role, most recently as CEO and prior to this, as the Director of Corporate Services,” Mr Hall said.
“We are very pleased to be retaining Julia as a member of the Ramsay Health Care Executive team.”
Ramsay Health Care is considering options for Ms Morgan’s replacement and an announcement is expected soon.
